This movie is strongly recommended. It rocks. Sarah Bolger and Freddie Highmore are the promising teenage actors to watch. Freddie played the twin roles of Jared and his identical looking twin brother, Simon. Here are the top 5 reasons why you should watch it.
1. It tackles contemporary issues like spouse separation, infidelity, consequences on children, struggles of the lone parent and family values.
2. It encourages pro-active participation from children to resolve problems. Kids are little people and they are equally important too. This movie has a similar theme with “Horton Hears a Who” - a person’s a person, no matter how small.
3. The themes are universal and reinforces the concept that the world is a global village. The plot is realistic, despite using fantasy and mythical creatures. Everyone or nearly everybody has a garden and the thought of it teeming with invisible lives that are more realistic than aliens rocks. It might knock the wind out of you if you share the imagination of the writers.
4. It is a tale that weaves together common legends and myths to form a quilt that is plausible for belief. We get a revision lesson on magic and the common paraphenalia associated with it.
5. The Spiderwicks were several generations apart from their contemporary relatives but they were proactive in passing down the messages of love, forgiveness, reconciliation, redemption and hope. This makes it a great movie to watch.
