Katoucha Niane was missing  since Feb. 1, 2008. On Feb. 28, her body was found in the water of Seine, near Paris. France’s police said she could have been drunk when she fell overboard accidentally. She could have been murdered because she offended Africans who were pro-female-circumcision. Katoucha herself was circumcized at the age of 9. She said she became a model to celebrate womanhood and the beauty of the female body. Her work strove to silence the critics who believed that women should be circumcized and subjugated to anonymity.
