Horse Fighting & Mating horrors!
Feb 17, 2008 Controversy, Scandals, Whacky
Horses, even stallions, don’t normally fight one another. However, animal handlers have used a clever tactic to induce stallions to battle one another. A young mare who is in heat, or mating season, is chained to a stake on the ground. Two stallions are let into the enclosure and they are steamed with desire for the mare. They fight as rivals for her attention.

Horses are often mismatched for fun, just like in a wild card game. Even the old horses are not spared. For the defeated ones are simply put out of their miseries by the butcher’s knife. Horse meat is sold raw or cooked to spectators.
The mare is helpless in this arranged mating. Sometimes, she is the victim of mis-aimed violence. The victor wins the chance to mount her rump and mate with her. In the full view of all the spectators.
A horse fighting tournament usually lasts 6 hours and can have as many as 30 matches between the pairs of stallions. So, the mare is approached 30 times during the duration of the tournament.
This sport is prevalent in Mindanao, Philippines and some parts of China.
Michael Vicks had been imprisoned for rearing dogs for dog fighting. Now, shouldn’t those responsible for horse fighting suffer the same fate?
Fat chance of that happening since they are not in the US.
